Cafe Dragons + Disenchanted Baristas from @opaline_fox

Opaline Fox is an illustrator creating the shapes of people and animals through an elaborately colored fantastical lens to explore nature, personal stories, and fairy tales. For who doesn’t want more dragons in the world?

“Cafe Dragons and Disenchanted Baristas started with the many feelings I had after ten years as a barista. There are so many questions stemming from the plants, process, and people that can make ordering a drink feel like an arcane art. ‘Milk, Foam, how much foam? Coffee or Espresso? There’s a difference?! Wait, that’s not a macchiato?’ You’ve probably been frustrated asking and answering some of these questions just trying to get your daily caffeine. Meanwhile, it’s easy for the barista to feel trapped in a tower and possibly get a little witchy. I hope that my whimsical renditions fill in some blanks and helps bridge the gap between customers and baristas.

I am often found at makers’ markets around Portland and slowly finding more spaces to appear. Besides displaying pieces in cafe shows (go figure!) and I have curated for Artists off the Page collective.
