Weathering is one of the most important and useful skills in the making of props and costumes. It can take your costume from “pretty good” to looking like it walked straight out of the apocalypse, times long past, or a galaxy far, far away. You know what the best part is? It’s not as difficult as it seems. There are a variety of techniques that range from beginner, to intermediate, to expert, and they all have their uses in helping you create the desired effect for your prop or costume.
Hands on: In this 4 hour workshop we will not only be demonstrating a variety of techniques for both hard and soft parts, but also giving you an opportunity to try them out for yourself.
What to wear: Weathering can be messy, we would recommend wearing something that can get dirty or distressed, and/or an apron.
What to bring[Optional]:
We will provide everything you need to practice the techniques we will be going over during this workshop, however supplies may be limited If you would like to bring some of your own these are some suggestions of what would be useful.
Something to work on: There will be a variety of materials provided to practice with during the workshop, however if you have a costume part, piece of armor, or prop that is ready for weathering we absolutely encourage you to bring it!
