About Ben: Born and raised in L.A. on Brazilian rhythms, Ben has always felt most at home in the kitchen — cooking the food his mom grew up with in Rio. A pit stop in Portland turned into a permanent detour when he fell hard for the city’s food culture. He ditched art school, loaded up a U-Haul, and started cooking his way through the city, from running a food truck on Alberta to currently working the line at Scotch Lodge. After pop-ups with menu’s spanning the globe — Korea, Indonesia, West Africa, and beyond — Ben’s circling back to his roots with bold, soulful takes on the Brazilian classics he loves most.
