Sullivan Studios: Linocut Workshop
Block Printing is a relief printmaking process that involves carving an image into a block to make one-of-a-kind prints. This hands-on beginner’s workshop covers image transfer, linoleum carving techniques, inking and printing onto paper and fabric.
You will leave with a carved block, a beautiful print, a dish towel and a kit with all the tools you need to continue your printmaking adventures. Taught by experienced visual artist Sarah Sullivan.
Confidence using sharp handheld tools is required. Bring an image to transfer or inspire your art: a photo of your favorite autumn veggie, a leaf changing color, the salmon running, the harvest moon – anything that captures the change of seasons for you.
What to expect:
Personalized instruction and a supportive space to tap into your creativity!
Instruction on transferring your artwork or image onto blocks. Please bring a photo or image for inspiration. You do not have to be a confident drawer to be successful in this medium. We will also have templates you can use.
Demonstration and guidance on carving techniques and tool selection, including sustainable and ecofriendly materials.
You will take home a starter kit with a speedy-carve linoleum block, a carving tool with three different cutters, ink, a brayer, and an instruction book.
