Cafe Dragons + Disenchanted Baristas from @opaline_fox
Opaline Fox is an illustrator creating the shapes of people and animals through an elaborately colored fantastical lens to explore nature, personal stories, and fairy tales. For who doesn’t want more dragons in the world?
“Cafe Dragons and Disenchanted Baristas started with the many feelings I had after ten years as a barista. There are so many questions stemming from the plants, process, and people that can make ordering a drink feel like an arcane art. ‘Milk, Foam, how much foam? Coffee or Espresso? There’s a difference?! Wait, that’s not a macchiato?’ You’ve probably been frustrated asking and answering some of these questions just trying to get your daily caffeine. Meanwhile, it’s easy for the barista to feel trapped in a tower and possibly get a little witchy. I hope that my whimsical renditions fill in some blanks and helps bridge the gap between customers and baristas.
I am often found at makers’ markets around Portland and slowly finding more spaces to appear. Besides displaying pieces in cafe shows (go figure!) and I have curated for Artists off the Page collective.

PCXN Monthly Gathering
Are you sick of relying on billionaire-controlled platforms to get the word out about what matters to you?
There's never been a better time to join decentralized, ethical social media.
Come to the first Decent Tech meetup to learn about the other options out there and even sign up for one or two.
We'll start with a brief talk describing the landscape of what these alternatives are. We'll focus on two active and growing options -- the Fediverse and the ATMosphere. If you haven't heard of these, you've probably heard of Mastodon and Bluesky. We'll explain the relationship of apps like that to the protocols that run them, and why this matters.
Then comes the fun part -- as a group, we'll join one or both of these networks, follow each other, and talk about how to manage the transition from corporate social media to something more free and fair. Don't worry -- we won't ask you to delete your Instagram.
Additionally, we'll have lots of resources for learning about other alternative services to continue your journey into digital freedom. If you get interested in the nerdy nuts and bolts of all of this, or want to learn more about the exciting stuff happening in decentralized tech right now, we're planning follow up classes that go more in depth.
Free snacks and beverages provided.
Free and open to all.
The PCXN is a coalition of individuals, enterprises, and support organizations with a shared goal of making Portland a place that nurtures its locally owned creative economy.
The PCXN is a community resource hosted by ADX. No money or membership dues are required to join or participate in these gatherings, just a desire to connect authentically with your creative neighbors.
Free food and beverages provided!

RSVP HERE!
The Last Friday of Every Month
Skinfolk: The Society of NonconformistsThis series is for ANYONE drawn to nonconformity—even as a question. We’re building a community shaped by refusal and energized by radical creativity.July 31, 2026, 7-9 p.m.
Octavia Butler: The Visionary
Before MAGA had a name, science fiction writer Octavia Butler imagined its acronym and roots: greed, power, cruelty, and fear. Through Earthseed, she also offered a vision for breaking America's cycles of division and building a more just society. Join artist and writer Sharyll Burroughs to explore Butler's enduring blueprint for navigating our turbulent times.
We'll also celebrate the birthday of the amazing Kelley Roy, founder and creative director of Art Design Xchange and committed host and supporter of all things Sharyll and Skinfolk. Octavia Butler is one of Kelley's many creative muses with her deep belief in artistic expression and social activism as a vehicle for shaping the future together.
In honor of Kelley's birthday, she invites guests to RSVP and make a donation to SKINFOLK Society in an amount that reflects the birthday year that she is celebrating (no googling). Every gift supports SKINFOLK Society's evolving anthology, public dialogues, and community building while adding a little fun to a celebration of two incredible women. Please join us for food, cake, beverages, and meaningful dialogue.

Grace Jones: The Avatar
Singer and model Grace Jones was a genre-defying force who fused reggae, new wave, art funk, and avant-garde performance into characterizations entirely her own.
But behind each image was a creative visionary known for provocative, sometimes politically incorrect artistry.
Join artist Sharyll Burroughs for an exploration of how Grace Jones became the living symbol of a bold artistic vision that would be considered too risky for today’s media.
